Good luck.

Re-drilling a sunraysia style rim requires a special kind of mouth breathing sociopath.

For $60-70 a rim you can buy a new wheel that is actually safe to use on the roads.

Like Fatzook says.......its dodgy to redrill sunnies, and its not much more to buy new rims anyway- so save killing yourself/ someone else and buy new rims, or a good second hand set.

Often see rims being sold here at damn good prices by forum members.
The crew here dont mind advising the best size and offset to suit what you need.
[wrong offset can ruin wheel bearings or foul on suspension]

Sell the 6 studs, buy 5 studs. Be patient, ebay, forums and wreckers.

really? or you didnt read?

-something designed to work one way, and you thinking to "break" it and make it work in a whole new way.. its dangerous for your car

-how much you think it could cost??..... at 60$ per NEW RIM.... theres no point in doing so.... they even sell rims in 16" to fit sierras stup patern ... if its a 16" rim what you want, as you got some from a landcruiser

-get NEW ONES or SECOND hand in here.... go to "get rid off" section on this forum and heaps of ppl selling steel rims... some whiling to sell without tyres

-sell the landcruiser ones... at what 20$ per rim?..... invest other 40$ and get some nice and shinny new ones

-more doggy would be that you go, get a power drill and do it yourself

-

Still haven't provided a decent answer as to why re drilling it is dodgy. Negating costs of a new wheel (which i agree you would just buy the right ones)

But WHY is it dodgy?

I would have thought of all the wheels sunraisers would be a perfect candidate for re drilling, as they are made of thick steel, and you can weld up the old holes. (by weld up i mean, you do it properly then balance the wheel, you don't get out your mig in the backyard)

http://www.wheelwarehouse.com.au/?page_id=270.

I'm not sure of why. I wouldn't do it, as for me it's just a personal desision.

However ask these guys they will do it.

Think peoples main concern is unseen stress fractures from the welding process.......and being able to correctly mark/drill the stud holes...

Yes it can and has been done before....but if you need to ask who can do it and how much.....just get new rims, it will be cheaper.

I have seen plenty rims welded and holes redrilled without problems......mainly road rollers when the nuts vibrate loose and operators fail to notice till the wheel falls off...they arn't exactually a cheap sunny tho..

Not at all. No welding involved usually.

Re-drilling such a thin wheel centre (6mm steel at best!) with a second set of holes will weaken the WMS considerably. By the time you lay down the extra 5 holes and drill in the tapers for the wheel nuts, some of the holes will undoubtedly be so close to others, that the chance of the steel fatiguing between holes will be very high. The centre bore may also be alot larger on the 6 stud wheels, adding more load to the studs when fitted to a hub with a smaller locating spigot.

SOME wheels lend themselves quite well to re-drilling, but sunraysia style wheels (chances are they are chinese made ones) do not.

I half looked at it a while ago, seemed better to weld in 5 and drill 4 new holes to avoid the extra hole dramas..

Welding to the WMS is not a good idea. Chances are they will be a cheap chinese wheel. Some of these are barely up to the task when new from the box.......

Perfect. But thats a 5 stud multi fit. All the holes are evenly spaced, which is ideal.

A 6 and 5 stud shared WMS is a fucking mess.
