Hi guys. I'm looking at buying a set of transfer gears from low range off road. And my mates are putting there order into tonight.

I'm running 33s and sometimes 35s. I'm from nz so it's mainly mud round here. I'm just a bit worried about 6.5 being to low for good wheel speed in the mud.

So I'm tossing up between 6.5s and 4.9s

Kinda need to know soon as they are placing their order in a few hours..

6.5s unless you have 4xx or 5xx diff gears.

I know that the 5.12s are out of stock with LROR for at least another few weeks but that's what i would get if you're purely doing mud
I had 4.9s with 31s and for sand they were absolutely awsome but for rocks and low speed stuff i needed more reduction (i also have 4.11 diffs)
I was going to get 5.12s but got the 6.5s as you can never have too much reduction plus i've got a GTi engine so 7500rpm to play with....fitting them on the weekend hopefully so we'll see how they perform then

For 33's and 35's in mud, assuming your diff gears are still stock i'd go with 5.14s or 6.5's. You should get enough wheel speed with the big tyres.
