Had a old bloke tell me today I should lock the rear of my jimny because it will make the diff stronger...
Is he just a old kook or is there a method to his madness...

A locker that replace the whole carrier in the diff usually makes it stronger because of better materials used when making the locker.
(Air locker, detroit, full spool etc)

But, a lunch box style locker like a Lockright or Spartan doesn't increase strength. It probably reduces the life of the carrier housing with the locker forces.
Welded, mini spool etc

Ok thanks, might be worth while chuck a air locker in then if my next diff is going to cost $600 I'd rather be changing out shafts anyway lol
