I use Federal Couragia mudders, they handle everything I throw at them.
Good on and off road, and sand was fine, even towing the camper.
I really need the crawler gears in most off roading I do.
If you going with gears, 235's could be too small in low range, I think.
My offset is -13, but changing that soon, to a bit narrower.

yer that was what i was looking at, can i ask what u paid a corner please, where did you get your gears from and im thinking i mite try the 30s would look nice i think.

mine site about 20-30 mm out of the guards, would i need a hammer with 30s

Mines a LWB, and was already hammered by previous owner,
so can't be sure, but I reckon only a bit of rubbings.
I paid $185 a corner, fitted and balanced, but todays prices are around $200.
I got my gears from lowrange USA.
Cheaper than local.

Once you start, if never ends.
Keep 235, no gears, have fun.

I never run anything but mudders, in Victoria you need muddies all year.
Have had other tyres on my Vit and my Sierra.
All tyres have good and bad, depends on your needs.
Have use retreads, but unhappy with the weight they add.
Have had good runs with older style khumos and bfg's.
On a pension, price, tyre life, durability and quality are important,
and the Federals suit my needs perfectly.

personally if i was to buy a directional tyre i'd grab the trepadores over the kl-71's

i've never run treps or claws so i can't comment on them... monley and smiffkid ran the new design claws and they went very well though.

treps dont seem to be very common in WA.

Yep, Only annoying things about the KL71s are they are directional which hasn't stopped me in reverse at any point but is annoying for tyre rotations, they also get pretty noisy on the road- but still quieter than couragias

my KL71's are quieter on the road than my KM2s, both are worn pretty similar, although the KM2 have less k's on them.

Rotating isnt so bad with directional, providing you're not getting uneven wear from a bad camber angle or too much toe in / out... which of course arent an issue with the tyre so much as the vehicle.

i would bet a good bit of your issue is 8 inch rims. a rim that wide is too wide for small tyres i.e 235 or narrower.

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting some tyres for my newly aquired Jimny. I've got my choices narrowed down to either the 215/75/R15 Maxxis MT-753 BRAVOs or the 215/75/R15 Kumho KL-71s (depending on price/availability). I'm based in Sydney and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where I might find a decent price?

The next issue is a 15x6' rim, I've been looking (mainly on ebay) but I haven't found any decent suppliers.

Would anyone be able to poke me in the right direction?

Ok I have to step in here cause this give me the shits. Now if you buy this tyre online and get it shipped to you then come to me to fit it this is the break down of the extra charges.

$165 tyre
$25 freight (4 tyres, vic metro)
$10 remove and refit labour from your car
$30 fitting to your rim with new valve
$12 balancing 4wd steel wheel
$15 disposal (try going to the tip, they charge more then $20 a tyre)

This makes your $165 tyre ending up costing you $257 each. I sell these exact tyres for $192 each ALL INCLUDED! This is only $2 a tyre more then if you buy the fucken tyres online.

Just because it is online doesn't make it cheaper.

I paid $189 each fitted and balanced for my Couragia 30 x 9.50 x 15's at a local shop recently.
Had quotes as high as $250 each from some places, not including disposal
Is a good thing to do your research, when you can.

Some online sellers do free delivery on 4 or more tyres, some have fitting deals with tyre fitters.
Do your research.

Just because it is online doesn't make it cheaper

ok bohuler, while i see your point. i bought 4 of my 33x10.5 KM2s from the states. i paid $940 all up 2 years ago including shipping. they were at my door in 4 days. i paid $75 to have the old tyres taken off, and the new ones put on and balanced. Tell me you could do it cheeper?

Tanshi. At a guess these tyres have to be atleast 200usd a tire now adays. Where can you get 4 tyres shipped for 140.... you wont even get a single rim shipped for that and that will take you 10days anyways.

you can call into question the truth of my statments all you want. but the fact remains, when i was pricing these tyres they were $340 per tyre over here, $1360 per set of 4. i paid $300 less than that landed and fitted.

those tyres are now a bit more expensive yes. 770 for a set of 4.
and yes the shipping may have gone up a bit too. but im betting that they still work out far far cheaper than the prices tyre places in Aus are charging.

and as for the shipping time, try it and see. ive shipped 4 sets of tyres from the states now and not one of them has taken more than 7 days to get here.

The place i use in cal charge 209 ea for them km2's. I only use them because he wont charge me sales tax and drops them off to the shipper to go in a container(which would cost still more than 140 and take much longer! )

Just unreal price on shipping considering other boxes ive sent over.
