You might be right, I thought it was g16 GV inlet in a maruti.

Virt "sounds" entirely feasable if the bolts line up etc, as I understand it there is a reduction in the tube dia when they are joined so why not have it at the flange, can always countersink it / die grind for a smoother transfer.

I thought that g16 looked familar. I have only glanced at the one I brought home and stuck in mums garage around 6weeks ago, the GV's that had these are the JLX? baseline models 99ish in NZ (a vit in something else's clothes me thinks) I got mine as a few piles of of parts so didn't see it sitting in the eng bay - I only stripped out the loom ecu etc. Its a shame these things have rack PS and some funky looking discs that I cant fit or seem to sell

Now I think about it my GV 1 had a different 2 piece air box half it was smashed but it looked like square panel one

Your sump and pickup, looks like you welded part of the g16b sump into the 1.3 one, I didn't quote understand the reason for it so just assumed that's what you do when fitting a Baleno engine

You can't just swap sumps, you'll need the front section of the g16's sump to mount the crank angle sensor.

And you can't just use the G16 sump because it will hit your diff.

My old man and mate are going to mod the sumps for me at work when they get a chance, basically going to bolt the g13 and g16b sumps together and run them through the band saw to take the whole front end off both and make for a perfect fit up to weld, then swap the front end over from the g16 sump onto the g13 sump so the crank angle sensor has somewhere to go, then chop the extra depth off the g16b sump front while it's attached to the g13 sump and put a flat bit (or bits of the cut up pieces) in to fill the hole.

I've seen other ways of doing it however this just seemed easiest for us as they will be able to get everything lined up exactly where it should be using the existing bolt holes and have one large straight mating surface for the cut pieces.

Right, replaced the main seals, timing belt, tensioner bearing, T/stat, fitted a swift thermostat housing, new plugs, fitted the alternator and intake manifold, new extractors on the way and a lick of paint.
Loom torn apart and put back together.

Right, engines out, need new mounts, rubbers are shot, stock mounts are fine yeah?
Going through the BenT kit now, looks pretty straight forward.
Question on clutch guys, will be putting a new one in, Exedy only seem to supply a HD clutch?
Do I really need HD? or is stock ok? I do a bit of rock crawling so will probably be changing the gearing in the future.
My only major concern with HD is does it feel super heavy compared to standard?

All done, had a small drama with the coil packs being in the wrong position, having not removed them myself and I had the ground for the starter on the terminal and not on the engine block instead.
After fixing those she fired up first go!

Still waiting on an accelerator cable to be made up and a few bits and pieces before I can drive away, will post some pics up for y'all later on!
