So all of our cars in the car park have been raided recently so I thought fuck it, I dont mind doing things to my car and it might just appeal to a few other people wherever you are that are suffering the same problem with Petrol sniffers. If they get through this I'll be pissed and will have to resort to more extreme measures involving a box of match's.

Got the lock yesterday and after some thought and some preperation it was to easy to do. Measure, drill, lick of killrust and bolt it on with a backing plate and it was done.

So who else is driving through central Australia on the way to the Auszookers meetup and is worried about there fuel getting robbed for someones jollys?

Everything is possible with a few hours and some tools.

Hopefully not. Thats why I have the backing plate to stop it all pulling through. There is a bunch of other cars in the car park so hopefully they see mine and give up to go to the next car.

FYI vitara's have an anti siphon ball thingo in the neck of the tank... i tried draining the tank on the SWB by siphoning it & failed to get a hose any deeper than the filler neck.

ended up running the fuel pump to drain 50l out of the sucker.

You've locked it therefore the must be something worth stealing, that's what sierras are all about, leave em open and people just walk right past

Hopefully they dont get stab the tank. Wouldn't be suprised. I really hope that it is a deterrent and they just move on to the next car.

I had no trouble sucking fuel out of a LWB 1.6 Vitara filler through a 1/2" poly irrigation hose. Not too hard to get past the trap with some poking around. Problem was I didn't have enough skill to siphon properly and got a few very nice mouthfuls of fuel!

 That's why they are stealing the fuel?

Here they take it to actually use it in an engine... Guess either way your fuel is gone. They at least leave you enough to get home?

It has a very poor shelf life (less than a month in your tank)

Increases fuel consumption dramatically unless you listen to bullshit propaganda from federal government and BP that say it doesn't.

Doesn't work in small 2 stroke engines.

Really doesn't burn that well. It took 40 litres of opal to get the shitbox limo to burn when 5 or 10 litres should have been more than enough

far out, that's just ridiculous, no wonder it doesn't work in engines. 8O

the line of fuel poured out to a safe distance to light up burned that slowly I could walk faster than the flame front. It was more like diesel than fuel. It also has an oily residue when you get it on your hands.

Divert the fuel filler hose to somewhere else that's quite hidden, and run the factory filler hole to a small "pee tank" - ie: roadside urination into the tank... then leave the flap popped open to make it more appealing for someone to wrap their lips around =) lol
