I didnt even notice, but my jimny was down on power.
Monley noticed it, a began to wonder if my basic as hell JX was even vvt...
id just put the 30"s on and yes it was worse, but i expected that with stock gearing.
just put a new air filter in and it seriously accelerates better than i remember it ever did on 205's
i have no idea how much power i actually lost, but what i was driving up at 5500rpm in third i can now do in fifth and only loose 10kph... (from 100)

obviously that filter didnt get changed as part of the last service... it was origional and 15000k old!

a 15,000km old paper air filter?? i replace mine yearly, so around 10,000km give or take, and never noticed any real gains.

the soil here is all bauxite clays and of the back of a long dry season the filter was full of it. the extra moisture from driving in rain with a front facing snorkel glued the clay like mud, it wouldn't even wash out without the addition of extrans, a industrial cleaner.
not that i was planing on reusing the filter i ujust wanted to see how much dirt came out...

Get a Donaldson style pre cleaner to replace your snorkel top. You wouldn't believe the amount of stuff you get in them!

You never leave the city, you could do 100'000kms and yours would be fine.

I have recently started the fleet service for William Adams Nissan Patrols and they were getting genuine Nissan services.... They were having troubles such as running out of brake pads 4000k into a service, air filters not being changed every service, fuel filters not being changed ect ect. What I have noticed is that if the service book didn't not tell the nuffy working on the car to replace the air filter it would only get inspected even if it needed changing! If you are getting it serviced, always ask to see the bits they replaced and ensure that the bits match the bits they are charging you on your invoice.

Yep i know what your saying, i guess i expected the local toyota to automatically change all the filters as it says in the manual for heavy/ offroad use.
