First of all, can I drive around without the front diff in??

Secondly does anyone know how to take the front tail shaft off so I can drive around without the front diff? Or what should I do with it?

The front driveshaft slides into the transfer - known as a "slip yoke" - if you remove it, all the oil will fall out the transfer case. You could strip the uni down at the transfer end and wire the yoke in place, but that's a fair risk - if it comes out you're going to trash the transfer.

To drive the car without the front diff in you'd need to remove the CV's too, but as you have to pull them to get the diff out any way, it's no big deal. IMHO the slip yoke the problem.

When I broke my ally front GV diff I drove around for about 4 weeks while I got a steel housing and fitted an air locker. Not a worry at all.
I also know someone who has been driving around for years without a front diff in his GV.

Cable tie it to the chassis...

Spray can degreaser caps fit perfectly to seal the inside of the hub.

When I broke my front diff I just cabled tied the tail shaft to the chassis and cabled tied the CVs up as well and drove around for 2 months till it was fixed.

I also tied up the tail shaft and drove front diffless for quite a while during the front diff works.

Learnt the hard way not to pull out front shaft

Yeah it's hard with the moto now haha. I want to ride the moto but go wheeling and it's just so hard to choose....

I have no clue ay, the bloody thing is stuck shut... Think I put a bit too much sealer on it :/ So once I get that off I can check out what's going on inside. That's twice now Ripley has done something to my diff

If the R&P is sheared i'll take it down to the diff shop and get em to swap my 4.8s into the steel housing along with a locker.
