Hey guys, looking at getting a bike rack for the back of the zook, and was just wondering if any ones used one of these bike racks before;

Looks pretty good, except it doesn't look like I'd be able to open the rear door.

Any other suggestions for ones I should look at?

I know this subject has been covered before, but I couldn't find any that would mount on the tow hitch, that would allow the rear door to be opened.

I've got a Rhino Racks one that straps on to the spare wheel. I can open the door to get beer out of the fridge, no problems. Have been to some pretty rugged places with two bikes strapped on and haven't ripped the wheel off yet. http://www.rhinorack.com.au/AccSubCateg ... 40_11.aspx

I saw a landcruiser a couple of days ago- had the bike racks in front of his bullbar, when the racks are empty, he turns the rack around so it points at the driver.

solved his problem I suppose!

Normally only 2 mtb's, on a brand new jimny.

I've heard too many reports about the spare wheel bolt on, or slide on carriers, cause issues with the rear door warping, or breaking hinges, so not keen on those styles. And also not keen on roof mounting as I know ill forget about them and try going into an underground croak or some thing stupid.. Lol

Those isi carriers look good, but need to have a light bar still, which I wasn't keen on.

The one I posted up in the op looks the goods to me, but really $$. Has any one used them?

I use and sell a shit load of these.



Had one on a coily for around 3 years and was used almost everyday in that time. If anything is gonna break it would happen on a coily.

Otherwise put a towbar on and get one of these.



Owning a bike shop I've been there and done that with almost all bike racks available in Australia. For standard bikes the pacific wins hands down.
If you have bigger heavier downhill bikes or flash carbon bikes that need to sit on a rack rather then hang off then grip sport is the winner. However I wouldn't be hanging one of them off a Jimny.

Why wouldn't you use the grip sport on a jimny? :S

Like most bike racks it would exceed the towbar down weight but unlike most it sticks out a mile increasing the leverage. I'd run one on a larger car with a higher tow capacity.
The extra leverage of these racks is huge and creates a shit load of bounce. You might not feel it on new shock but they wear it's fucking annoying and can be dangerous.
