I want to come up with a way to test the bypass pressure first.

i will drop the filter and glad wrap it, so you can do what needs to be done, also it has 10000km threw the filter and its a genuine, so should give a good indicator of filtration.

At the moment I have a genuine one and the white K&N filter, when I do my next oil change I will cut them up for a look.

TBH the K&N oil filters are over priced and hyped up. Better off with Ryco type. Change your oil and filter on a regular basis and put the extra few $$ toward the drinks after servicing.

I have used the K&N on my SS Ute when drag racing as it was stipulated the filter has to be secured (tie wire) and the K&N was the only one I could find on the shelf.

I will see if I can find the link to the page that went through and flow tested, rated filtration / bypass then cut and checked the internals and compared.

Bit the bullet and bought the hp1002 (white one). It's coming from the UK for $20 total so not badly priced really. Looking through that linked filter autopsy seemed to prove they were a degree better than most others and that's good enough reason for me.

I get the K&N filters cheaper then ryco. Plus ryco are shit in my opinion

lol, ok, some little facts that i do know looking into this going a couple years back, K&N do not make oil filters, someone else makes the filter and K&N put there name
on it and sell it on. K&N are known for air flow induction, and they are not the best by any means on that either, when i looked into this matter i was living in England
as i was playing with a car over there, induction kit, stainless exhaust, alloys, low profile, nos, sound system, lowered, etc,,,,,,, anyway,,, long story short is that there is a company called Pipercross which was much cheaper then then K&N and the proformance was much better also.

im not really sure what everyone elses comment are as i seem to be lazy today and really cant be bothered to read through, but the oil filter will be the cheapest supplier to K&N which would come within minimum specs required.

you might aswell see if sony or samsung do a oil filter.

K&N do have a habit of giving out stickers with there products so i would advice if you really want a K&N filter is to use the sticker, through the filter in the bin a by genuine filter. seems silly the amount some people spend on there zooks $$$$$$$$ and then try to save $3 on a filter. might aswell replace the air filter with a rag, thatll save a few $$$ i mean you wouldnt use peanut oil instead of engine oil on your next oil change? good job the can TAX air yet else what would some people put in there tyres

What's wrong with that? That's what specs are for.

K&N oil filters were made by Champion Labs and probably still are, you know, the same company that makes Mobil 1 oil filters and many other quality filters.

Does this mean the K&N is good? Not necessarily, but it doesn't mean it's junk either.

I held off installing my K&N air filter to my new Jimny because of a thread on here where lots of respected members dissed them. I finally decided to whack it in and straight away had a notable increase in peppiness. Many will still argue this point but let's stick to oil filters in this thread.

I wonder which factory OEM oil filters come from?

I can't find a pic of a Chinese SGP oil filter, but these cheap ones from Suzistore are the Chinese ones, as stated on their site.

I gave suzuki a call as im off work and need a service kit. They said in no uncertain terms that all sgp parts are made in Japan and they arent responsible for commies making filters and slapping suzuki on them. Their near on exact words lol

Interesting. Made in China in the description but look closely at the picture and it says made in Japan.
