Hey guys, who here can point me in the direction of club reg, I hardly drive my vitara now, and rego is coming up. car gets driven maybe once or twice a month just to the tracks

Car needs to be 25 years old for club reg in VIC. You need to be a member of a club which administrates the scheme, and submit the car to their scrutineer, which may be a business or qualified individual. The VIC Suzuki club does not currently operate this scheme.

Yes, there are lots of car clubs that do club reg, just not the Suzuki Club. You'll still have to wait a year though.

My best mate has his old BMW on club reg with the Gippsland Car club. The inspection is essentially a roadworthy so if you have lots of mods it could be difficult.

As the others said car needs to be over 25 years old in vic (I think most other states are 30 years) and you buy a 45 or a 90 day registration which requires you to keep a log book. Even on club reg if you find a leanient club scrutineer who will pass a heavily modified vehicle if the cops pull you over they can still make you get a roadworthy (or I guess you can cancel your club reg and start again).

....because it won't. There's a number of reasons the VIC club hasn't (yet) persued club reg and this is one of them. It really has no bearing on mods/engineering requirements.

Nsw zuk club rego is only for stock jl and 1l sierras
Its not for modded cars

same in Vic, if it need's engineering then it has to come under the street-rod rules and that a whole other deal. and not much fun either

Ill add this in if you are caught breaking any laws not only do you get a fine but also the club you registered to receives a hearty fine..... Also if you can find a club to go club rego the car has to go for a roady so all the good bits off and then back on= no fun!! Mate your better off just paying rego at what it is I've been looking for months for a club to club my rx7 and no luck... I found one but what spare time I had I'd be working on other people's cars!!! So ill be paying 3 full Regos for the next few years witch is not fun at all....

i know the bellarine 4wd club as one of the very few 4wd clubs to offer the scheme

That not entirely true.

Under the scheme, you can run period modifications and the club has to accept the vehicle as being suitable. I know of a 1 litre just about to go on the scheme with 2" lift, LSD rear, 15x7" rims, 215 MT's and Recaros (235/75, 30x9.5, 6.5 and 7.00x16 would also be fine).

Most of our LJ's also run front discs and free wheeling hubs as your allowed to upgrade safety equipment. So far most are using 6.5x16 Creepies on original wheels.

We've got around 9 vehicles so far on club plates. Works out costing about $100 a year. You need to get a pink slip for rego (no blue slip is required as its a permit based system).

a club registered vehicle can only be driven on club authorized outings or to an affiliated club event with permission of the club president
they can be driven a short distance for the purposes of maintenance and repairs but there are restrictions on that too.
Any travel outside this requires permission from he club president and it is best to have it in writing in case you get pulled over, some f clubbies will also carry a copy of the regs
if you can find a historic 4wd club that offer club rego and that organised off road activities then you could go in then,

Ausuki, that does not apply in vic. We are able to drive club regd cars anytime so long as our logbook is kept up to date and the number of days on the permit is not exceeded. The scheme changed in 2011 to allow this.

Its funny seeing people rock up to a shipping yard with plates to pickup their already club reged freshly landed just out of the container vehiccle. The amount of dodgeys going on with this system is a joke let alone the vicroad employees at the counter knowledge of this scheme.

I had to pay my yearly rego the other week which was overdue. They werent sure if it could be payed nor did they check the details of the clubs safety inspector so I could have just signed it.
