howdy,
chasing the refill capacity for the auto vvt gearbox in a jimny, the book only has the overhaul (completely new and empty) oil level which is 5.7 liters,
chasing the level for refill,

not sure what you are getting at. it holds 5.7L, what other number would there be?

When you drain an auto via drain plug, not all fluid is removed.
A lot stays in the converter and other places.
A full system change is a pay someone job, with vac machine or similar.
I do the drain, top up, then drive and drain top up method.
On my Vit Ï drained about half the capacity, if I remember right.
So did it twice, still looks clean on stick now.

its not like checking the engine, to check the level of an auto you have to run the car until its at operating temp, in park, than cycle threw the gears for 3 seconds each, than put it back in park and check the level while the engine is running, thus the reason i was chasing the round about figure, so i would only have to do it once,

yep what chris said is correct, or as i did, drain it, than drop the sump completely off, to get most of the fluid out.

it took about 1.8 litres to refill.
vac pump it and you will get about 3 to 3.4 in there.

Oh right, well there ya go! learnt something new today!

I dont know shit about autos, but the times ive serviced them I've only dropped the pan and changed the oil screen and re-filled. Now I know better!
(those cars were a busted ass charade that cos 500 bucks, and the other was my shitty old falcon that I didnt really care about, so no harm done)
