Had this plan to rebuild my old rusted kayak trailer, then a mate comes around and we end up starting from sctrach so here it is.
chassis 50x50x3 2200 long 1400 wide drawbar 75x50x3 1800 long so she is pretty big but that is needed to take a few longer items
a marine carpeted frame to carry 14 whitewater kayaks or 12 flat water/ sea kayaks
a lightweight box with one side for paddles and the other to kayak 7-8 big bags full of other gear
a mchitch coupling to take any offroading it will do
a set of hd sierra rear springs
shocks unknown what type they were the right size from super cheap
landcruiser wheels (soon to be sunnys with 32in tyres) most of the time it will be behind the crusier

the idea with the rack is to build more boxes that will fit into the middle holes and a roof top tent on the top the other boxes will ubolt on and be super quick top convert from a kayak trailer to a camper trailer
the tinny fits on the roof of the car so it will lose its top rack, and the kayak well it will have to go ontop of the tent
i currantly have ome rear springs with 7 springs but they are still a bit soft i have been told i need longer shackles to help with the angle? and i also need a bit more height
the other problem i still have is i havent fitted a water tank yet so im on the hunt for a super slim 40ish l water tank

more info to come as i think of it...

The first box, this is m,ade from a 1.6 alloy frame and alucobond I can lift the whole box off and carry it around. the plan is to make a few of these when it becomes the camper aswell and they will fit neatly into the spaces on the racks one with shelfing or something and the other with a fold out kitchen, then have the roof top tent on the top rack.

the trailer is now registered and on the road, have taken it on a few trips and giving it the good offroad testing it needs, I still nned to finsh the trim on the box and get some new sunnys and tyres for it, just trying to decided on tyres for it im thinking a set of these on 16x8 sunnys would go pretty good http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200938609797 ... 1423.l2649
or the other option is to get new tyres for the car qnd put the 30,000k olf allterains on the trailer... any one found much difference running muddys on trailers in regards to cornering on the dirt etc?

Slippery mud can see a trailer with road tyres wanting to overtake you when cornering. MTs will have a long life on a trailer that runs true (doesn't crab).
I wouldn't put new tyres on a trailer, they'll rot before they wear out. Swapping your part worn tyres sounds like a good plan to me.

I'm in Canberra, we have a stack of rivers around here but most only run when it rains ( typical Australia) I have paddled the nymbo and shoaly both great runs, funny enough I'm also a out Ed instructor and work at a school here but mostly paddle my creeker rather then rafts.

On another note I just picked up 2 32in muddies for the trailer! Woot

Nice canoes, I would like to fish from one but the croc situation here in the N.T means I tow a 4.3 meter tinny around instead. If I leave the territory I would build up a fishing yak, they look cool ( where you don't risk becoming croc food)
