Ive been looking through the site for a good write up on fitting the gti swift engine inti my sj80.
I cant find answers to a few questions...
Use the standard gearbox, does it need and adapter plate or custom tail shaft work?
What radiator is used? Also does a thermo fan need to be installed?
Can the ef/el alternator be used with the gti engine?
Is angle the only easy option to the dizzy clearence?
Standard engine mounts?
Is there any threads on the fuel system using electric pump?
Any detailed threads on the wiring of loom, ecu and fusebox?
Thanks in advance if your able to point me in the direction.

I just finished this exact conversion (Gti into sj80). Standard gear box is ok as the block is basically the same. I used the same radiator but needed to put a few extension on the bottom bolts of the radiator to extend it further forward to clear the pullies. I just used the gti alternator. I used only a angled dizzy cap & put a dent into the fire wall. Standard engine mounts are used but I bought new ones just because of all the extra power. I bought a Baleno fuel pump & assembly & just used the standard tank as it has a swirl pot of sorts in the bottom. My wiring was done by Killa Kustom Kables (0404811498) he does an awesome job. But you do need a Gti swift set of exractors & Sierra exractors. You must get the plate off the gti one & weld it to the sierra one. It costs a bit to do this but the power it has now is fanastic. let me know if you need to know anything. I will send you my number if you like???

Thanks billygoat, with the extractors are you talking about swapping the flange base thing that sits against the head? So g13ba heads are different and gti extractors are likely to be totally different?

Yeah just the bolt pattern is upside down. It is one of the easiest things that worked first go. I also had to cut a small piece from my engine mounts to fit the extractors. But we just back from the cape & it held up just fine even with the 10 billion corrugations. All up the cost was about $4500 for the whole conversion. I have pics of it all if you get stuck. There are links on here but they don't really tell you all you need to know. I did my whole conversion myself except for the wiring so can tell you how to do everything.

How much should i be paying for a g13b with 250,000km including loom and anything else from the gti only to do the conversion. Not including anything sorced from other cars, shops or custom work

We paid $1650 for engine & loom, extractors, right angle dizzy, seals & a few other things. Make sure you know what the compression is on the engine first before you buy it.

Its a Mk2. The AFM on Mk1s are on the inlet manifold from memory. I paid 1k for a whole car when I did mine.
