Hi all, anyone know of any other roof rails I can get to fit my Jimny 2006 vvt, I don't want the stupid plastic standard ones cos a roof basket, climate up north and lots of rough roads they just stack up... they more crack up!
any other cars metal roof rails fit the Jimny?

well in theory any would fit. you just have to cut the rail to size and figure out the attachment method. they are all a bit different. If you can find a track mount one would be easiest I think.
My rhinorack is track mount and is pretty damn solid, the only plastic bit are the feet and to be honest I cant see them breaking, besides, Rhino would replace on warranty.
(I dont have factory front/back rails btw)

any other cars metal roof rails fit the Jimny? Ummmm.....the only plastic bits on the rails are the end caps. The rail itself is metal and so are the feet that mount to the roof.

My first set of rails had plastic feet that are glued to the metal rail, this was off a 2000 model and they shattered around where the bolts go through, my second set that i got off Dr_Snapid have the metal feet.

X2 31zooks are plastic in his 99 model. I haven't had the plastic covers off mine to check the late model setup

not wanting to start another thread on a fairly similar question.......i have a 2012 with the factory roof rails that I use for NOTHING!! if i remove these are there any racks out there that then mount to the factory mount points? I see in some peoples builds they dont have roof rails and just the rack eg rola did they have rails at one stage or is the roof setups different?
Thanks guys

My 2009 model came with roof rails that had plastic feet. They do look pretty sturdy but I went down this same path a few years ago. I ended up with a Wind Cheater roof rack from South Africa (got it from Opposite Lock). It was this one or a really expensive one from Italy. These were the only choices I found. I think the rails that you see in some of the builds are on vehicles which never came with the factory rails. The Rhino roof track system mentioned by Scales is an option you might want to look at. I spent about $1,000 on my roof rack to give you an idea of price just to get something that picked up on the factory bolts but then discovered I still had to drill the roof because it used three bolts per mounting.
