Hey guy's I know there's hundreds of conversion conversations on here and I hope my question hasn't already been covered - I have been building a 94 Suzuki Maruti WT flat tray and it's current 1ltr F10a motor just doesn't have the power I need, I want to put in a 1600 carby model Vitara engine and I seen the conversion kits that Ben T has on here to put them in Sierra's but when I emailed him about a kit for my 1ltr Maruti he said that most of the Maruti's came out with different engine and gearbox chassis mounts than the Sierra but some models however were the same but he was unsure what models were the same. Does anybody know what models of the F10a maruti's had the same engine and gearbox mounts as the Sierras ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Correct me if im wrong, I assume your engine gearbox mounts will be in the same spot as the f10a nt sierras. for 1.6l carby motor your mounts will have to be changed.

Gearbox mounts will be the same/will fit, engine mounts wont. You'l need to make new engine mounts and weld them onto the chassis.
You'l need a 1.3l bonnet or body lift to fit the engine in too.
Sell me your engine if you're in W.A

The Maruti is essentially the same as a SJ410 Type 3, a version of the Sierra that was made at the same time and alongside the first 1.3s, and the chassis and floor pan of the Type 3 1.0 is the same as a Type 1 SJ413. However nothing on Marutis are always an exact copy as the Sierra, so......
Have a look at the right hand engine mount on the chassis. Does it have three threaded holes for the mount (ie 2 used for the 1.0 mount and 1 spare under the bracket)? The spare hole is used as the bolt spacing for the 1.3 engine mount. If your RH mount has the 3 holes, you will be able to bolt in a G16 engine using a 1.3 gearbox, a BenT adaptor (with offset mount) and a 1.3 bonnet.

Checked the mounts this morning and unfortunately only two holes - does this mean i will need to cut mounts out of a sierra to proceed with this conversion using the Ben T kit ??
Any info is greatly appreciated guys.

Hi, I just wanted to clarify one of your posts about fitting a G series motor into a Maruti. I've been offered a Maruti tub and chassis at a very good price to build up. It originally had a F10a in it. I was wondering if you can tell from the picture below if this chassis will accept the G13 style engine mounts or if I need to find another chassis to cut the mounts off. The chassis is from 1990. 303zuke wrote: The Maruti is essentially the same as a SJ410 Type 3, a version of the Sierra that was made at the same time and alongside the first 1.3s, and the chassis and floor pan of the Type 3 1.0 is the same as a Type 1 SJ413. These two holes are for the 1.3 engine mount bracket.
