I installed some free wheeling hubs recently and today after my drive home from work, about 15ks, they were really hot to the touch. They where in the free position. Do I need to take them off and grease thm up? Are there bearings in thm?

Nothing to worry about, your brakes make them hot.

they shouldn't get that hot with general driving, they can be warm but i wouldn't call it hot.

You couldnt hold your hand on I recon. Wasn't doing any massive brake stops either? I'm still thinking it could be a warm bearing though. Are there bearings in them? Need grease? They had old grease in them when I put them on. Maybe I should clean them up and repack them?

Brake problems and wheel bearing problems can cause heat.
Warm is ok, but if you go ouch when you touch it, something ain't right

Yeah only Patrol hubs get really hot.

Are they Aisin hubs? I have pulled apart Aisin and AVM hubs, nether has bearings or any moving parts that would get hot just by going for a drive.

The heat is coming from something ells, as others have said I would check brakes and wheel bearings.

They are standard older model vitara hubs. But that's why I wanted to know. I'll check stuff out! Brakes and bearings...

I don't think he needs a video on how to rebuild them because there is probably nothing wrong with the hubs... A video on how to check the wheel bearings or looking at a seized caliper would be more useful.
