I would run the car whilst using a compressor, primarily to up the voltage and therefore speed the compressor up.

My present cheapy flattened my old battery once, during a 4psi to 25psi x 4 30" tyres.
Wasn't a top notch battery, and was on a night drive, but always keep car running now.

I'm here again, getting close to next bill-less pension.
EDIT:
Bought this one.http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0786914074
After hunting around for ARB and other good quality ones, reality took hold.
Only has to pump 30's from 8 to 25psi, maybe once a month when too far from a servo.
Hopefully last as long as my $25 Kmart one did.
Another 30 years I be over wheeling anyway :)
Thanks all.

Some of you have mentioned you owned the ARB twin compressors,
If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for them? And are they portable ones or solid mounted?
Arb in Canberra quoted me 700$ for the portable one, that was with my 4wd trainer discount and 4x4 club discount.
(They like to rip people off) so if I can get proof somebody has got one cheaper that would be great

Sorry, forgot to add, it's for my dad, I'm using the single piston Arb with my lockers, but dad is after one to quickly pump his 33s on the POOTROL,

Can't comment on the portable kit. I think I paid $520 for the bare compressor.

It pumps from 11 to 22 psi fairly well, but very slow after that.
22 will do me for getting to a servo.
Happy for the price, will suit my needs, if it lasts well.
But I suggest people buy better if you can afford.

What's the best compressor to get for lockers and tyres that mounts under the bonnet for under $300? Im leaning towards the arb cmka12 atm.

That's what I'd get.
