Hey guys,

Partly rounded off my jimny gearbox drain plug last weekend trying to get the bugger off for a much needed oil change. Shifting has gotten a bit stiff over the past few weeks and I suspect there is water in it.

I'm going to have to take to it with a cold chisel so I'm going to need a replacement. Suzuki does not have any in stock within Australia and they Are on back order from overseas and could take up to a month. My jimny is my daily so I need to take care of this ASAP.

Does anyone know of where I could find a replacement aftermarket plug?

Take it to a Fastener place. Perhaps they have a bolt or large 'grub screw' that could suffice for the moment.

buy a 10mm square drain plug socket & go to a self serve wreckers & pull one out of another zook or go to a suzuki wrecking yard & buy one?

Suzuki shops? They usually have the stuff Suzuki Australia doesn't keep in stock...

Is the drain plug on the VVT model the same as the non-VVT one?

Just go to a bolt shop they will have em for like $4.

I now need 24mm socket to take mine off... Not going to round off anytime soon

Thanks for the replies, I should have mentioned that I really did not want a second hand one but a visit to a bolt shop might be on the money.

2nd hand one would get you out of trouble until a new one rocked up.

if you're going to get one from a bolt shop make sure it's got a magnet in it.
