Do you mean the rubber mounts? Of the fixed chassis mount?

If you're ripping mounts off the chassis you probably have solid "bombproof" mounts??

the fixed chassis mount. i am running solid mounts.

I'd suggest using something softer. But not everyone would.

Weld some more material onto the chassis mount.

Was just looking through my build thread to link you a picture but it seems I've been too slack to take one.

It's obviously completely untested because I don't have the thing running yet but on the long side it's I think a 6mm plate going the whole length between the mounting points mounted onto the modified mounts Fatzook had installed there 3mm steel iirc folded similarly to the stock mounts but obviously way stronger and up above the chassis rails, on the passengers side it's just the 3mm tower kind of mount again installed/made by Fatzook when it was his, all we did was modify it to where we needed it and re-install it.

Why don't you engineer in a weak point like putting the rubber mounts back in or something? If you don't I'd assume that if you've managed to tear a chassis mount then eventually you're going to find the next weak point after you've upgraded the chassis mounts.

Which could likely be the transfer case.

Thats why give on the short side is helpful.

I just swapped out the 5.1 calmini gears for some 6.5s so the last thing i want to do is hurt the transfer case.. is there a stronger rubber mount they make other than std?

Ive read of people using the round engine mounts off a land rover

The genuine factory Suzuki mounts have lots of stretch, the ones off eBay etc seem to be much worse.

The ebay ones suck. I rate the genuine ones. They can and do break. But, i get plenty of life out of them and they are a very quick and easy track side repair.

IMO, two genuine rubber mounts on the short side is the go.

I use 2 sierra spring bushes (stacked) now with a bolt right through the lot on all 3 spots, it works well

I have been using Polaris engine mounts for a couple of years now. They reportedly have slightly more stretch and higher tearing point than stock genuine mounts. They are also built like stock ones as in a two seperate bolts(not 1 bolt through).
When I bought them they were $33ea. They aren't quite as tall as stock ones though so require washers/spacers.

I took the mount to ripco and matched with one from a Mazda, not sure of the number but haven't failed me and are now on the LJ

I didnt have any dramas running solid mounts up to 33's, but after going to 38's the arms and mounts would twist after about 1/2 an hour. I'm now using 4 factory Surf body mounts and a custom cradle and havent had any dramas.

I tore my 1st passenger side mount lat week ( don't know how old it ws though....) I like the idea of having a cheap/ easily fixed shear point.
