^^ would be ok with 215 - 235 /75R15s but you're not really achieving much for a lot of effort.

^^ That's pretty good. A couple of questionable percentages but pretty good.

I have installed -60% Protrack kit only for low range in my Jimny with final 3.43:1 ratio. You can speak with they in english without problems. But these kits are only designed for Jimnys with manual transfer and G13BB engine. For Jimnys with electronic transfer Protrack guys are working on them. At the moment for these types of Jimny you can only buy Zeal gearsets from Japan

Send an email to Protrack too, perhaps they can inform you of something about their kits for Jimnys with electronic transfer

oye hombre, gracias!.. heheh thanks for those links bro. Nice to see there are more options for jimnys out there at a good price.... Might jump into those when the time comes just wondering how much a 7% or a 15% reduction would be?..... in the sense of: what tyre should I be runing with those % in order to be at factory specs.... We have been chatting and chatting, trowing numbers, ratios, percentages, T-cases, autos, ect ect... but at the end of the day, still theres no definitive answer to, what should I get to run 215's, 235's, 30's... in order to be like stock..... in a non-vvt (mark I-II) 100km/h @4000rpms... and vvts 3500rpms (if I not wrong)

Now only option is gearset of Zeal from Japan with -77% on low range. Protrack guys are working on it. In Jimnys with manual transfer is more easy but gear cheap solutions kill it if you want use it on highway. When use TrialJimny gears with -24% or a 4.16 from Samurai/Sierra you have -20% on high range and is impossible to use a Jimny on highway. You need 235/75/15 or 30" to compensate. Here some people use a solution that is to put gears from 5th gear from Vitara 1.6 16v gearbox and you have +8% in this gear to compensate -24% from TrailJimny gears or -20% from 4.16 transfer. I think that Protrack -7% gears is a good solution with 215/75/15 or 235/75/15 and -15% gears for 235/75/15, 30" or more. I don´t like -24% gears, they aren´t a real solution for a Jimny and his poor stock low range. Now my Jimny has stock high range, perfect for all use with highway use included, and a real low range.

Great new info swb_ddis, are you planning on fitting bigger tyres? What will you do for road driving if you do get bigger tyres, or will you just put up with the drop in power?

Use 5th gear of Vitara 1.6 16v gearbox is a expensive mod I think because you need open the gearbox. 5th Jimny stock gear ratio is 0.864 km and 5th stock gear Vitara 1.6 16v is 0.795 km. I think the best size tire for a Jimny is 215/75/15, 235/75/15 (for example) need +75mm lift and / or body-lift. In my country for use legal on street 215/75/15 I will need to spend 300e (440 aus $) more in a certificated of a engineer, and if you install -7% Protrack gears to compensante for example I need 650e more (945 aus $), I don´t have a lot of money. Here or you make a full modify and legalized all things in one time or if you make it step by step is very expensive. Because of this Maxxis Trepador on stock size 205/70/15 or retread brand tires are very popular. My Jimny has a complete sport exhaust line and KN filter and combinated with stock size tire 205/70/15 runs on road like a bullet

Yeah legally we can really only use 215/75 as well but 235/75 is popular here and 30x9.5 is becoming more popular. I still think the Sierra transfer swap for non VVT Jimnys is the best all-round option for us here.

Yes, here are very popular to put a 4.16 transfer from Samurai/Sierra and 215/75/15, but on road use Jimny runs very very short on highways. I have a friend with Apio planetary and I love it how works this Jimny in all terrains. Because is very expensive to import something from Japan I bought finally Protrack planetary that is the same solution that Apio 58 star but more cheap and comes with iron transfer mounts incluided.

Yes 4.16 would be best with 235s

I know 2 Jimny users with 4.16, 5th Vitara gear and 215/75/15 tires and these Jimnys works fine but they have a lot of vibrations on front axle with 4x4 traction. I think to put 235s you need a big lifted and your Jimny suffers more For VVT version I know a person from Madrid that he uses 4.16 transfer, 235/75/15 and front and rear differentials from Jimny with diesel engine with 3.416:1 ratio (25% more longer than VVT ones)

Have you see both price of it and shipping Dont know how much shipping would be for the transfer ones but its getting apealing... Thats something bit more interesting. What its better, ( in an ideal scenario where u get the same % of reduction). Diff gears or transfer ones?
