I've found a 4 point roll bar for sale and I'm just wondering what sought of price I should be paying? From what he could tell me it's made from mild steel tube. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a horizontal bar (for harness attachment) and diagonal brace so ill have to get those added. Apart from that it looks to be in good condition with no rust. Anybody have any idea what I should be offering him?

I wouldn't buy a second hand one if you intend to use it for safety purpose's. Just contact Fatzook, let him know what car you have and he will be able to sort you out. Have a look at the last page in my build thread to see some of his work. Top quality and great service. I know this sounds like an ad but really if you are serious and you think you might use it then i would re think a second hand one.

Ok, are you saying that because of the fact that you just don't know what your getting with a 2nd hand one as in what the welding is like etc?

Yeah definately. Depending what you plan on using the cage for like competing in different events you might need one made out of a specific material like Cold Drawn Seamless.

However, if you are only using it for looks you can probably get away with a second hand one if it looks ok.

Rollbars aint rollbars

Do you have any pics of the rollbar? Most 4 points I've seen in sierras would barely qualify as a 'roll bar', and are more along the lines of a sports bar.

Price will depend on design and construction. (material size, grade and how it is welded, and mounted)

Design, and lack of bracing.

A roll bar will have the backstays attached up the top of the main hoop within 100mm of the bend, and they will be straight, and on no less than a 30 degree angle from verticle. Diagonal bracing through the main hoop is also desirable, preferably starting above drivers head, down to passenger floor.... both points being within 100mm of bend and 100mm of mounting plate respectively.
