I pulled down my new engine today its a g16a but it has 16 valve pistons in it. I am running the 8 valve headand it has run like this as its a second hand engine.

My question is why would it have 16valve pistons in it?
and will it cause damage eventually?
also can i use a sierra 1.3 fuel pump in the 1.6 head

cheers jesse

I've found 16 valve pistons in G16A blocks too, it won't do any damage.
Not sure if the fuel pump fits the G16 head?

is there a compression difference in the 2 different pistons?
also do 1.3 extractors fit the 8 valve head

Damo can tell you what the differences are. There are 3 types that I know of, 8v, 16v shallow dish and 16v deep dish

IMPORT 1.6 engines, regardless of being TBI, 16 valve or carby are all G16A. Only in Australia is the efi designated a 'B'.

1.3 fuel pump fits with an adapter plate, and 8 valve 1.3 extractors will fit

this is an 8 valve 1.6 head with existing extractors and fuel pump that came on the standard motor.

you can just see the plate i made for the fuel pump, sorry only pic i have from the old motor
