If you have an early SJ410 with the non-4wd light transfer case you will need to find a switched transfercase. The non-switch transfer wont take aftermarket gears.

For a non switched case you have 2 options. Find a switched case or stick with standard gearing.

So I take it a 1.3 case can't be adapted to fit?

Yes a 1.3 case will drop straight in. They are externally the same. But flanges are different and not interchangeable, so try and get the tail shaft flanges so you can run a half and half uni, or get a 1 litre switched case.

To my knowledge the flanges are interchangable I got a 1.3L case and just swapped the flanges to fit my tailshaft/unis (they're all 1L with the smaller bolts)
