Just a question someone may be able to answer? if I replace the std sills with box how strong could it possibly be? can they take a beating or just better to fit sliders. If I weld the box to the body panel will the paint crack ect??? Is there any way to make brackets to the chassis with allowing the body movement? Im in a situation where I need to repair my mates sills but because of the damage there gunna be a ass to fix.

replacing the sills with 100x100x3mm box section has been done before and as far as I know causes no problems, the huge vertical surface area should prevent any damage, its welded in on 2 sides.
you'll need to have your sliders either body mounted or chassis mounted you can have both as they flex differently and will cause issues with cracking, fatigue etc.

They cant take a massive amount of beating. But better than normal sills. Hard enough hit it will bend the body.

Hmm 100x100x3mm you say, I might have to look into that as my silsl have rust issues due to the silly factory plastic trim holding crud and moisture in there. Thought one day must take them off and have a look behind, was almost a horror flick.

Sweet thank you guys. I new it had been done and didnt think you could lean on them too much. Just rather cut them out them straighten them for him to bend again any way.

You can lean on them. Just a heavy landing can bend shit.

dont use square tube/RHS u can get box section like RHS that has 1 shamfered corner it will be stronger, look better and give better clearance.

I used 125x75 RHS, as it only sits down 75mm and holds banks/rocks etc off the car with the extra bit of width. This is also cause you can't get 100x75 lol

I took a slightly different route with mine, it's a bit more work though. Ive done a few box section sills on mates Sjs with 80x80 and 50x100 but on mine I wanted chassis mounted sliders without loosing any sill clearance so I tucked the sills up out of the way. This is the old outer sill panel cut out and flipped.  I also cut a lot of the floor out as well but you could do this without doing so if you make the outriggers for the sliders differently.

If your sills are in good condition Pete's sliders are the way to go. If they are badly rusted and require repair some 100x 100 fits nicely or as I've done to provide a bit more support 2 bits of 100x50 laminated together

Thanks guys im all good cutting and welding and all that stuff just wasn't sure how strong it would be. Ive got sliders on my own car but just find there always in the way. sounds silly I no. So ill go with sill removal and and fit some box up.

started with this  (previous owners handy work)  100x100x3 fits nicely, I haven't tested it yet though so I'm not sure how strong it will be.

i think mine are 100x50x 3-4 cant remember but they are pretty strong and the extra clearance and with a 2 inch body lift means things are getting pretty serious to touch them haha.
