As the title said, whats the pros and cons for a chip for a new diesel grand vitara? It has done 80000 k's (the chip) obviously its cheaper. The brand is dp chip.

Gumtree one from the riverland? It shouldn't matter, they don't wear out do they? Spose it just depends on the settings.

What form does it take - plug & play or soldered? in other words - tuner or chip?

I'd be very wary of anything that required soldering - EPROM chips are static sensitive, handle them wrong and they can fail.

DP chip looks like a plug & play module, should be all right - see if you can get a DOA money back warranty
