Hey guys. My car has recently started making a clicking sound when turning left. At first it was only doing it when turning hard left and putting stress on it. But now even a gentle corner it is making the noise. Although when I throw the cluch the noise stops, which is the part I cannot understand, the noise seems to be coming from the left tire area, this is in 2high and hubs unengaged. Sorry if there is already a post on this. But I cant find one with the clicking stopping when cluch is in. Thanks

Most likely a cv on its way out. Clutching just takes the pressure off it. Could be wheel bearing, or brakes, too.

pretty sure the CV wouldn't be spinning in 2 hi & the hubs unlocked.

Could the FWH be getting stuck on, I know mine did because they weren't serviced and the cog came off the spring, causing the hubs to be constantly locked.

Thats what has been confusing me. Maybe it is getting stuck in 4high. I did have a problem with the transfer box got stuck in neutral. Stuck a magnet in there and pulled out little bits of junk, but now it is clicking in each one nicely, or so it feels. I have read about a sleeve, or something the transfer box has but cant find info on what it looks like.

droverdave wrote: What have you actually done to try and work it out? Asked on here about it. It goes beyond what I know, being in 2wd and still clicking and all. I sort of dont know what to do. I am going to pull the hubs apart probably tomorrow and see if I can see anything.
