Hi all,
I have a 2000 Jimny and wondering what would be better a 50mm OME or 80mm TD lift for a Jimny. I know the TD sits nice and high but ??? I have recently put on new 15x7 -13 rims with 215/75/15 Kumho MTs without the lift they scrub, will this still happen with the 50mm lift?
What should I go for, I don't want to waste money now and then find out I want more, or less. What does everyone thing please.
Cheers :peaceout:

Don't go near TD shocks, every jimny with a TD kit hates the ride.

OME (which ive never run) ive heard good things about, give them a go i rekon.

215s will fit with no lift BTW.

I have run OME on many vehicles and always been happy with the ride.

A friend runs the OME kit on his jimny with those tyres and it is fine.

Thanks guys. The wheels are currently scrubbing, I hope the OME lift kit stops this, if I want more lift later what's the best option. Spring spacers or body lift or does anyone else have other ideas.

Suspension lift won't stop the scrubbing. It might lessen it a bit, but the wheels will still ultimately end up in the same place as the suspension moves around, so scrubbing will still occur. You could space the bumpstops, but with a low lift height, this might start to compromise ride. (the car will hit the bumpstops more often)

215's will fit with no lift, as 31zook has said, but that's on stock wheels. Perhaps it's your wheel choice that's causing the scrubbing. That being the case, it might be cheaper to swap back to stock wheels with the 215's rather than fit a lift that doesn't really fix the problem. Have a look at where the scrubbing is happening. My guess is that it will be on the front bumper and maybe on the front and back edges of the plastic guards. As those surfaces are almost vertical where the scrubbing is happening, you'll notice that you'll need LOTS of lift to keep the tyre away from that surface. It's normally just a little bit trimming that's required to prevent this problem. If trimming the guards a little is out of the question, then swapping back to stock rims would really be the only option.

However, OME kits are of high quality and generally offer the best compromise of ride/handling and lift. You'll notice that's often because the offer the [lowest lift - less lift = less compromises in normal driving.

I think the forum worked out that the 80mm TD lift was poorly designed and heavily compromised because of the spring design required for 80mm of lift. It "works" in that it provides around 80mm of lift, but the suspension doesn't really work the way suzuki intended after the lift was installed. That's the problem of higher lifts - you're really asking the car to sit at a height it wasn't designed to, and the higher you go the more problems have to be addressed.

If you were trying to run a 31" tyre or bigger, maybe the compromises of a taller lift would be acceptable, but for a 215, I'd be trying to run the car as low as possible.

The best path is to consider tyre size and suspension lift as completely separate issues. They're not really related.
