Well i was knocked back for to much smoke so the mech said to much smoke... i cleaned the PCV valve, did an oil change and ran a fresh batch of fuel through it...
Here is how it runs, when you start it, it goes to about 1500rpm, you can take off the throttle cable and it makes no difference. it rev's very roughly to about 2500rpm then it feel like the clutch is slipping once above 3248rpm it picks up slightly, but nothing like my other zook... it idles but only cause the rev's are so high. There is smoke coming out of the rocker cover, is that ring's been told it is...

So to sum it all up I'm just trying to figure out what the hell is wrong... ring's, craby, rebuild, drive off cliff...

carby is fucked. rebuild it and see what happens. then once everything is good, drive it off a cliff that way it will never give you another problem again

Ok How much are carby rebuild kits?

you can get kits from repco and stuff for around $80 i believe, to get it done proffesionally, advisable, around $400. It is a lot more money to get done right BUT they do a lot more than stick a kit through it. Mine was pulled down completely and each individual componenet was acid dipped to get rid of any corrosion/rust that had built up, everything was replaced including and springs or anything that could get even a small amount of wear on it. The jets were replaced and the air/fuel mixtures were set up so that it will idle at 800rpm and it revs like a champ right up the rev range.

awsome im keen now if the carby i buy tomorrow makes all the difference ill rebuild one or get it done... What sort of shop would do carby rebuilds?

a carby rebuild shop! should get extractors and pipe if u havnt already, then get it tuned

josh any good mechanic should be able to rebuild the carby, although the suggestion to go to a carby/efi specialist is a good one. if youre gonna update the engine then just get it running and fit the 1.6 after rego

yeah i would only go to a shop that only does carbies or else you will end up with second grade work

come and experiance some city mechanics, I am suprised some even know which end the oil goes in!!!!

They are not mechanics they are technicians, not the same thing as far as I am concerned.

Find someone that knows how to use spanners and shit, not plug in a diagnostics computer to try and find problems

haha im rebuilding a subaru/VW shop atm and the mechanic's there carry around a big computer and plug it in everytime there is a service. One VW there everytime you opened the door the lights would tilt down... stupid mod if ya ask me...lol

give us some more details. is it blue smoke or black? are your plugs black. can you smell fuel from the back of the car?

with the rocker breather it will always have a little bit of air coming out but when the rings go it pumping out lots of air.

nah the smoke is not coloured.. just wood burning smoke... the spark plugs are black (rich?) dunno bout the fuel in the back? I bought a rebuild kit today so I'm ripping down my carby (read: steep learning curve, and a mate says that he destroyed 2 sierra carbys trying to do it. And i was quoted $500 for mine fully acid dipped rebuild and $700 for one he had on the shelf then $1200 for a webber which i can't run for rego an way) The kit cost $100 from repco and there is another sierra carby I'm getting for free so if this one is fully funked by the time I'm done with it then ill just bit the bullet and get it done pro. I just hope i pull it off...

If ya still have dramas mate you can try Dr Mak at East Maitland.They done my rebuild and i'm very happy.Bondy down there is pretty clued up.

for that sort of coin $ i would fuck the carby off altogether & grab this... no side angle drama's, cold start blah blah blah...

yeah a lot of Mechanics would remove the carby and send it to a carby specialist anyway

Most mechanics I see these days are remove and replace technicians. Ask them to pull something down and rebuild it and they're stuffed.
@ 31 Zook, from what you posted it sounds like maybe your automatic choke is stuck on.

Hey i spent some of today pulling down my carby and replacing some parts. Im being super careful but there is still springs and stuff falling out as i turn it over...do'h ah well... It has to go for a blueslip and it's in need of all standard parts... plus try to register a truck like mine on my P's with an efi setup...

swap the carby out of your swb get the slip and you'll find out if its the carby.
