Hey guys,
I've had this issue for a long time, but now its starting to irritate me.

96 auto EFI vitara.

So when i start the car when its cold, it will idle low, but not turn off, then when I put into drive, it stalls. What i normally do then is jump out, and adjust the screw on top of the throttle body to keep the idle higher. That seems to work, but then after a few days the same thing happens.
Once the car warms up, the idle then becomes pretty high in Park (1500Rpm or so) but when in Drive, it sits at a nice and pretty 850-900 rpm, and does not stall.

The other issue I have (and this happens no matter what the idle is set at) is when I go to take off, as I accelerate, the car bogs down, the accelerator becomes unresponsive, and the car is about to die. Then i back off the throttle, and accelerate and it does it again maybe twice or so and then the car takes off and drives as per normal after that.

Could this be my IAC?

I've cleaned the EGR port, thinking this was the issue, but no such lack.
Replaced plugs and full service.
Not sure where to go from here. Any help is apprecieated.

Also, I dont have a High idle when i start the car.
I've noticed other vitaras idle high then drop down when its ready...this doesnt happen to me.

Clearly it don't know when it is cold.
Mine idles around 1500 when cold, and drops to around 700 - 800 when warmed up.
Try looking at temp sender area, in case its not getting a good signal.
Or anything in the temp control circuit, or idle up mechanism.
That's the extent of my efi knowledge, hopefully a smart person will have a better clue.

I just ran out and did this.
Got code 12 - Everything Normal.

I was actually hoping it would throw an error. Damn stupid fault.

UPDATE :

After digging around every forum online about these issues, I found something so i thought i'd give it a try.

One bloke said try and mimik what the cold start does, start your car and hold your throttle open up at 2K rpm for a few mins, then put it in drive and see how u go.

Did that, car drove away perfect.

So it looks like my issue is the IAC or the temp sensor sender as what christover said.

I had a dig around, is the IAC the round thing at the back of the throttle body, just infront of the firewall?
Do i just pull it off and clean it up? whats the go here.

and where the heck is the temp sensor sender.

My temp senders and sensor for the efi are on/under the thermostat housing.
1 sender in front (temp guage), the other sender (hi temp ac cut out)
and sensor are on the side.
No idea where they connect to at other ends.
Not sure what method efi uses to up the idle.
Dirty rusty or loose terminals is a maybe.
