Hey guys,

We'll after wrecking my last 1600cc 2002 SWB GV, I've replaced it with a 1999 SWB 2litre J20A GV

I've heard that this model comes with 4. Ratio diffs rather than 5. Ratio which is in my wrecked GV... Is this right ?

I noticed huge improvements with extractors on the 1600. Any comments from J20A owners ? Worthwhile mod ?

I haven't seen this truck in person, so I could check...but I'm guessing the brakes are still same as 1600cc so I can run 15" wheels without issues, unlike the V6 models with larger brakes.

I've purposely gone for the 1999 with no airbags so I can easily lift this and put a bar on the front without needing to consider airbags

Pics to come in the rigs section

5 door J20a GV's.

manual is 4.8 and Auto is 5.12

Not sure about the SWB models but i'd guess they would be the same.

Front diff will have the air operation.

Should be able to do a direct swap from your old gv into the new one.

As for performance.... you shouldn't need to touch it.... Will go harder than the old 1.6 4 banger.

pretty sure the SQ420's had the larger brake package, the SQ416 had the 1.6 Vitara brakes... you'll probably need 16's

Thanks guys.

Looks like I'll be selling my wheels and tyres.

I'll swap rear and front diff over giving me the 5.12 ratio diffs again.

Will look at pulling my old transfer case out and doing reduction gears, quite good having the spares now and being able to do stuff without taking truck out of action for too long

Oh and one thing which I'm happy about is I can just swap over my WRX seats and roof cage... Amazing it didn't bend when it rolled, the racks holding the roof cage flexed and took a lot of the impact out of going over on the roof
