Got some bad news...

I need a New Steering Rack for the XL-7..

Had my 5000k check up on the Dobinsons Lift kit and they found my steering rack to be leaking pretty badly..
So I am hunting around for a new steering rack/ Reconditioned Steering rack.. I just have no Idea where to be looking..

Ebay has heaps of American Steering racks but I am pretty certain they wont fit due to having the steering on the incorrect side of the car !

Try power steering conditioner, fixed my leak for nearly 3 years, before needing another dose. I used Moreys, very happy. People seem happy with nulon as well. It replaces the fluid, and normal fluid can be used for top ups.

Worth a try. Or try sourcing the seals.

XL-7 and GV steering racks are the same.

I just fitted a steering rack from an XL7 into my 2001 GV and they were identical. 8)

Just be aware - there are two different RHD racks - which were used on both GV & XL-7 - so yes - you can use an XL-7 rack on a GV & vice versa - but you may need to check the rack to make sure you have the correct one.

That is actually cheaper than I thought it might be (still sucks though!). They are easy enough to remove so shouldn't take you too long.

Remember to factor in you will want a wheel alignment once it is all back together also.

Last i check a second hand one from the wreckers was worth about $300-$400 anyway. So i think you're better off pulling it out and getting it rebuilt
