Item Description:

My SJ40T is up for sale. I never wanted to sell this thing however I haven't had time to play with it for a long time now and I can't see myself having time in the near future either.

I've fitted a G16B from a Baleno, however haven't had the time to sort out the wiring completely yet and as such the conversion isn't 100% completed. I'm sure any half-competent auto electrician could complete the wiring in a couple of hours, but see my build thread for more details about the conversion and where it's at (link below).

It's the original long wheelbase NT chassis with WT diffs from a donor SJ. I've also replaced the bonnet and passenger door with newer items as well as the interior (including a WT dash, see pics). The car was stripped and resprayed in Ford Blueprint with a HEAP of 2 pack clear coat.

Specs:
1983 SJ40T hard top tray back, originally 1L NT

G16B from 2000 Baleno (with 164,000kms on the clock)
New belts and seals (timing belt, cover seal, fan belt, rear main, oil pickup o-ring, sump gasket, thermo housing gasket, oil filter)
New starter motor
New extractors
Ben T adapter kit
New alloy radiator
Recently replaced clutch (less than 500kms on it) including machined flywheel

5spd Sierra Gearbox
4.9:1 Rock Hopper gears fitted to transfer case
Custom rear driveshaft by Hardie Spicer
WT diffs on NT spacing (ie, spring perches relocated but still sprung under)
Auto lockers front and rear (with new pins)
Boosted brake master cylinder (instead of the un-assisted 1L jobbie)
60L EFI Tank and swimmer pump
Body lift
ARB Winch Bar
Hella Spotties

31" Maxxis Trepadors, 2 are 95% (less than 500kms) and 2 are brand new (lent the set to Stekky, he took a couple of chunks out of 2 of them, so replaced them - good guy).
Roof console with brand new Uniden UHF
Bunch of other stuff (speed bleeders, drop shackles, etc)

As far as the engine conversion goes - everything is done in regards to the engine install (adapter fitted, engine mounted, fuel plumbed, cooling plumbed, etc etc), it's just the wiring that needs finishing. I'll include the new sensors I bought when troubleshooting the engine wiring (map sensor and crank sensor, both around $80ea) as well as another ECU I also purchased (which cost me $300). Both ECUs throw code 12, which means everything is fine. Currently if you disconnect any sensor, the ECU will throw a code for that sensor, so it looks as though everything is working fine - my guess is a missing earth somewhere or something else as simple as that. The thing just doesn't spark or pulse the injectors. I just don't have the time to go over all the wiring again.

As for the rest of the car - it's a great ute that really is super-capable. I've only actually given it about 4 runs (less than 500kms, realistically about 200kms) before I took it off the road again to do the engine conversion. That was about 2 1/2 years ago! It's got a couple of dents on the drivers door but for the most part looks really nice. The roof has a few dents in it from before I resprayed it (I didn't bother trying to pop them out). There is no roof lining, wipers need hooking back up (the linkage between the wiper motor and the wipers that is) but everything else is there and works.

I'm in no rush to sell this, I just realise that I won't have time to finish it and then use it - otherwise I would be keeping it, it's a great little truck that I've put a lot of time and money into.

Selling without Rego or RWC, as is.

My build thread, where you can read about everything I've done to the car and get more pics, is here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10432

Location:
Mansfield, Brisbane QLD - Pick up only, however I'm happy to help load onto a tow truck for interstate buyers. (Yes, the car has ACT plates, I kept it registered in the ACT after I moved to QLD - but it is in BRISBANE).

Price:
$5500ono

Really, are they really this cheap!

Good luck with the sale man, that's a good price for what looks to be a top rig.

If it were, it wouldn't be as cheap.

Can I ask that people only contact me if you're serious about buying – I had a guy come around on the weekend and spend about half an hour going over the car and talking to me about everything that’s been done to it, only to leave after saying “I wish I had the coin to buy it”.

And no swaps thanks, I've had a few interesting offers so far, but as I said I don't really have the time for more projects.
