since i am researching the baleno 16 valve engine swap for my LWB, i have come accross the 1.8 Baleno GTX, can anyone shed some light on this engine, is it a possible donor? etc
also does anyone know what year the baleno got the coil packs and dropped the dizzy?

The Baleno 1.8 is a "j"series motor. The Easiest conversion is the "G" series 1.6.

So the "j18" is different bolt pattern to the gearbox etc,etc. as j20, j22, j24

The coil packs on the baleno g16b came out 98' There were 2 kinds also!
One had coilpacks on the back of the head, And one had them on top! The coil packs on the back of the head i have heard are rare, but they are easy to change over, swap etc. If needed. I have done it. 00' coils on 98' coil motor. (I blew up the 00' motor, found a 98 motor") Get me?

Any earlier year and its just like the swift motor setup
