Chasing a drop pitman to fit a vitara power steering box. 2 or 3 inch drop would be good.

Calmini make one http://puresuzuki.com/kick_pitman_arm.htm IIRC these are about 17mm locker so if your diff is moved forward you may have steering binding issues. I believe the Jimny PS pitman arms also fit the Vitara PS box, they are both a koyo brand steering box. Im sure I read on here somewhere the splines are the same. This means you can track down a standard Jimny PS Pitman arm which has about the same drop as a sierra pitman arm. The other option is a jimny drop pitman arm http://www.jimnybits.co.uk/shop/jimny/s ... d_563.html

I think early Tarago vans have a suitable pitman arm. But You'd need to check that out, memory fails me.

vit and jimny arms are the same spline. jimny is similar drop to a sierra. I have now bought 3 jimny arms to fit to vit boxes fitted to sierra cars. $130ish dollars new from suzuki

Is there a specific year Jimny Power steering pitman arm that suits the Vitara steering box, or will any of them fit?
and sorry noob question, the benefit of having the drag like and tie rod more parallel is reduced bump steer?

If the pitman arm is lowered, wouldn't there need to be a similar drop for the idler arm? Is this done with a lowering bracket using the stock arm or another arm with the drop? Where do I get the bits to sort this? Thanks

this is talking about fitting one to a sierra w/ vitara power steering so no idler arms etc.

Ok thanks. I've just been looking at the calmini site and they make no mention of these parts. Can you direct me to a thread that covers this issue? Thanks

there is no issue... this isn't relevant to a vitara owner, as i said above it's about a sierra with vitara power steering.

OK, I thought maybe I could improve the steering arm angles associated with the calmini 3" lift and the subsequent front tyre screeching when going over table top speed bumps. But if thats just part of the deal, then that's one more thing off my list! Thanks

sounds like you've got other issues to deal with, i highly doubt that your tyre rub issues is caused by steering arm angles.

hey RIKSTA if your steering arms are made by sky, your having the same problem as I am with lack of steer angle. the jimny arm is 10ish mm longer (from memory than the vit so it doesn't make up the difference. I was a bit annoyed about this as I specifically asked sky if they were short enough to match the sierra pitman arm. my solution which i haven't got around to finishing yet is I bought a left hand drive Toyota tie rod end kit with the relay end so I could set it up like a 60 series cruiser where the drag link is tied to the tie rod and in turn its steering the knuckle from the inner hole instead of the outer (on the left hand side steering arm) to make this work I have to shorten my sky tie rod to fit the relay end and that's a job for someone else as I don't have the tools to do it......

Thanks for that Mr.G. I have the trail gear RHD hi steer and when checking with the trail tough one it was slightly different. It seems that TT had designed it to work with the shorter throw of the Vitara arm. Its very close to working, but I could just do with a bit more. I think the jimny arm will fix the problem if it is longer by 10mm

I have a drop pitman arm that is currently fitted to a wt steer box. Will that suit your application?
