Came across this question (and link) in another forum - thought I'd ask it here ...

Anyone ever used a steering damper on a Grand Vitara?

http://www.toughdogdealer.com.au/Vitara.htm

My initial reaction was there's no where to fit it, and it's not necessary - but looking at the link TD claim it fits 88~02 - so where does it go, and is it necessary? I can't think of a reason to fit it on an IFS vehicle.

NFI.
Maybe helpful on non power steer?
Once I fitted ps to my Sierra, I never needed a damper.
My Vit is fine without one, and its lifted.
I would thing power steering fluid is it's own damper?

Calmini offer a damper for the vitara. No idea about a GV though. Being rack and pinion, surely it's super redundant?

don't they teach kids to hold the steering wheel properly anymore?

thumbs go on the outside if you're going to grasp the wheel with a limp wrist. pompoms

X2. A steering damper won't help stop the wheel doing a sudden 180 degrees when you hit something hard enough!
