I tried to get the front diff drain plug undone, but the last few people to do it munted it so badly it now has a round hole instead of square...

ANyway I'll get my mechanic to weld a nut on and remove it.

The bit I need help with is which drain plug it can be replaced with that is not a square hole type, but an external hex type. I heard a while back that there was a magnetic one around, but couldn't find which one it is...

weld a nut to the plug and then put a brass washer on it and keep using it. mine has been undone stacks of times since i fixed it.

i think one of mine is magnetic, so they are deffinately around. might be the transfer plug?

All mine are magnetic, but I am after a hex shaped one, not a square key..

does yours have a flat surface for a seal or is it the tapered one?

Any hydraulic/pnematic place should have a new grubscrew to suit your needs, or try boltmaster up the rd from yours.

you don't need it out to see what type it is.
if it is the type that has a flat to seal on the outside of the diff housing
they come out easy as if you give it a tap with a cold chisel.
