Ever thought of getting some pro comp shocks from JB ? I find them soft and they are rather cheap.

Look to be the same as what is in 31zook's jimny went to fit them today but need crush tubes... however after un bolting my shocks, the jimny is SUPER soft.. like 2 fingers can push it up and down 60mm with no real force.. so there is my issue! i will post up results tomorrow

I run the commo/hiace shock set everyone uses in their sierra's. Im lead to believe that my coils are slightly stiffer then normal, cause jimny_timmy runs the same combo with a slightly softer ride then me.
As ive said before about the ride quality, sierras are rough without shocks so adding them intensifies the situation, but jimnys are fairly soft, so the shocks work out well.
And ive busted both of mine off phill.

the springs (surprisingly , because its a spring) without shocks are actually meant to have "bounce" in them , the fact that you have a broken shock mount might suggest you may have a binding shock , did you test the shocks out of the car ?
the spring as you say is soft because you can bounce it , but this will not cause a hard riding suspension , the spring only suspends the car the shock is what actually determines ride comfort.
wouldnt be the first time ive seen a binding shock/broken shock mount in a jimny/coily

I reckon look at your spring rate Phil... Like Josh said, we're both running the same shocks, I'm running 4" ORA springs and Josh the 3" Jimbits, and cause mine have a higher coil rate, they're softer and sit lower than his.... Granted I do have a metric shitload of weight in my front end

Hopefully I get a decent ride quality. Atm it feels like solid springs not coils...

I'm sure I read that somewhere. I had tough dog coils and they were harsh as shit till the Jim was fully loaded. I presume this is from poor design in thinking that the same style of spring will suit such a light 4wd in comparison to a Toyota/Nissan etc.
