What are you trying to achieve? What sort of Chev V6?
If you're going to move to all Hilux gear I'd suggest it's much easier to start off with a Hilux.

So why are you asking when you're clearly all ready to start it? If you had the expertise to complete a build of this nature you probably wouldn't be asking here.

I've seen one pushing 40' tyres hold its own very well against v8's and big turbo diesels, in fact the steering gave out before the motor did

It's a 350 with two cylinders lopped off. Hard to believe, but it might be even crappier than the 3.8 Buick motor.

Its no good having it geared at 260:1 if your only running 29's and taking it for moonlight drives along the beach. madmacca wrote: obviously this isnt for the road , what tyres are you going to run ?gearing ? leafs , air shocks coilovers ? are you building to a specific competition ? oh pics would be cool

Just looked it up. Would that mean that upgrades for the SBC work for the v6? What tranny has it got? Edit: if the SBC apple lands close to the tree, its going to need those upgrades

i reckon you'd have way more fun with just a rear locker in a stock vitara and bouncing it up all sorts of obstacles.

awesome- all the disadvantages of a hilux and a vitara rolled into one car.
Bendy chassis - check Stuff all wheel travel and short front springs - check Narrow track - check Crappy steering Big heavy body with high centre of gravity - check Huge, vulnerable doors tiny load area (considering)
add in masses of work, and huge difficulty in making it legal - what a waste of time.
60 series or rover diffs under a vitara chassis? much better outcome.
Steve.
