Hi there, I am having problems with my 1.6 EFI vitara. It isn't running well at all when cold and then gets better once it is warm. It has like a resistance when increasing revs, almost like a flat spot or its bogging down. It is running a little lean and the fuel pressure is at 2.2 psi and should be at 3.2. Possible things it could be is a faulty airflow meter, fuel pump, fuel filter, dirty injectors(not likely) or what else?

Has anyone had this issue? It hasn't been like this since I got it and seems to be getting worse. I just don't understand why it would run so bad when it's colder and them get better once at operating temp. It will get costly if I go changing out all parts and they not the cause. Spark plugs checked and fine.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Fuel pressure is critical.

and it's WAY higher than 2.2 or 3.2 psi.

It's more like 45 psi.

I'd start with changing the fuel filter.

Guessing OP meant bar, not psi.

3.2b = ~46psi

Dirty injectors maybe. I spent a month trying to track down a similar issue on my old jackaroo.

Can make a little cleaning station at home for $4. Just need a couple of cheap plastic syringes.

How are you measuring the fuel pressure?

If its a guage while the car is running, you should see the pressure change a bit with throttle opening. (fuel pressure regulator doing its thing)

2.2 bar is about 31psi, which is a bit low if its supposed to be 3.2

Also how do you know its running lean?
