im looking at dual batteries for my 92 lwb vitara....looking under bonnet not much room....but running it to rear in batt box seems to far..and with current drop etc ..what have others done for best results ....any ideas please ......

I don't think you will have a problem with current drop if you are using right gear and cables. A lot of people run the second battery from the back, it's quite common. Although, I am pretty sure, being a 4 cylinder there should be room in your engine bay shouldn't there?

2) Where will the load (see 1 above) be mounted?

No - I don't need the answer to the questions - but if you can answer them, it will help you decide if rear mounting is a viable option, or even the optimal location.

Just as an example - a second battery used to power "engine off" campsite loads, perhaps a fridge , might be best located at the back closer to the fridge - on the other hand, one intended for winching would need to be near to the winch, which is usually in front.

U should be able to get 2 up the front
If it's only fridge and lights then 16mm2 to the back will be fine.
If it's for the winch u will want 35 - 70 mm2.

I have a 75amp hour deep cycle battery mounted under the bonnet as well as the dismally small starter battery.
No dramas there. Using a piranha dual battery isolater
