Hi all, I'm a veteran 4WD enthusiast who has just purchased a Suzuki Sierra SJ70 as a project. I have put a 1298 engine in the vehicle and am having problems getting spark. I've checked the coil and the distributor and replaced both - still no spark. I was wondering if any one would have any ideas on how I could help to fix this problem.

Sounds dumb but: fuse, break somewhere?

I've checked fuses, coil has power on the primary and secondary windings. I'm leaning towards the ECM but I'm not certain because the distributor and coil check out ok. However, if anyone else has other suggestions, that would be much appreciated.

im going to be gentle because you are new ...
your sj70 doesnt have a ECM , its a fairly simple oldschool electronic distributor and coil.
if you have indeed replaced both the distributor and coil , and you are using factory plugs to plug it all in ... then have you checked that the distributor actually turns ? ie broken timing belt or snapped camshaft maybe , who knows you could guess till the cows come home.
theres a black wire with white stripe that powers the + side of coil when ignition on are you getting power there ?
also how do you know you are not getting spark ?

Are you running a 1.3 coil or a 410 coil?
