Basically the revs drop when I go up steep hills until the car just conks out.
If I let my Sierra sit for 10 mins and start it back up it's all good and goes again perfectly fine.

Someone told me there could be something that blocks the carby when the car is at a certain angle.

Really want to get this fixed as I can't really go wheeling because of it!
If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it I would muchly appreciate any information and help.

Start simple.
Check the fuel pump first. Fit a fuel filter between the pump and the carby. When it dies, check the filter. If the filter is dry then the fuel pump is struggling to supply sufficient fuel under load.

I had this happen when I first got mine, Swapped out the old fuel filter for a new one and gave the carby a good spray with carby cleaner and she was all good.

May or may not work for you.

Okay I'm going to put a new fuel filter in. And carby cleaner it. And see how it goes!

Yeah I'll do all of the cleaning and new stuff first and then if it does die again (touch wood) I'll make sure to check it!!

Check for a blocked vent in the fuel tank. I had a stoopid R sole wasp lay some of that clay stuff in a fuel vent/breather and coz air couldnt get in to replace the fuel being used, it used to slowly die.... then come good. Try loosening the fuel cap and if that fixes the problem, look for the fuel tank vent and clear it out.... If yours vents thru a canister, look there for blockage

Otherwise, as others said, fuel pump, fuel filter or water/crud in fuel. Prolly go for an electric fuel pump to make sure it wont stop just at the most inconvenient time.....

Just go into a repco or similar and get one. I got "goss" brand. Seemed ok.

You might get oil everywhere doing it, so get degreaser too, just make sure the steel 'finger' for lack of a better word engages properly.

Facet are ok, but a bit expensive.... try ebay or wreckers?

Edit: Lots on ebay for under $30 delivered. The gold coloured 'universal' cube looking ones look the same as facet pumps. You only need low pressure, medium volume. One of those would keep you out of trouble

Mine is a weber, pretty much faultless.

Dunno why people bag webers so much, they are a great carby.

Sorry dont know how to put links on here. Just look on ebay for 'electric fuel pump' plenty to choose from. I found the gold coloured cube ones (same as facet) seem good at around $30

The last one I bought was before I discovered ebay, I payed $110 for the same thing

Why would you want to complicate things further by adding an electric pump? Just get a new stock mechanical one and call it good for another 200000ks....

^^ This. I once swapped out a $400 Mallory electric pump for a $12 mechanical in my drag car to iron out some gremlins. Sure, the mechanical might have "technically" started to run out of puff over 7000rpm but the limiter was set at 6800 so it was never going to be an issue. The Mallory is still sitting in my shed and the 12-buck pump is still kicking ass.

Yeah I'm liking the idea of a cheap stock mechanical one...
And I haven't been home to look at my car, 2 more weeks and I'll do this.
But I'll do a full service to the car and if the fuel pump isn't to expensive I don't see why not to put a new one in... Car has done around 130000kms, it's probably due for one anyway! Even if it's not the problem.

im pretty sure acme sell one for like 5 bucks to fix it for good.

I have 2 of these. They are to suit US models which have a Hitachi carby - they are unsuitable for Australian models! They don't even come close to fitting!

Also, if you have a look at an australian model carby it already has a short pipe sticking out of the carby body...

What's complicated about adding a fuel filter between the fuel pump and the carby?
Probably less complicated than your suggestion of purchasing a part from overseas, then trying to fit said part to an in compatible carby.
