Having trouble with steep hill climbs in the lj when you have to bounce over a rock or something. As soon as you bounce the thing it floods its self an becomes very hard to start ,normally when you are in the worst possible position. Have had to roll start backwards down the hill, not too much fun.
Wondering if any one else has had trouble with these carbys like this? Any suggestions?
Oh by the way it has a corolla engine in it too for all of you haters of the corrolla conversions.

I had issues with the 4k and carb in my sierra going up hills.
Turns out it was a blocked fuel filter but...
all the research I did suggested to fit a pressure regulator so you can turn the pressure down to stop it flooding.
I believe holley do one a good one that isnt expensive or theres others around as well. from memory a setting around 3-4psi was the go.
Other suggestions were to bend the float i think. pirate4x4 is probably a good place to search as well as here

Been there done that, there's not a lot you can do but first try extending the float bowl breathers with some fuel line that fits tight, after all you are putting a round tube in a sort of square hole, make them as long as you can. Don't worry about pressure regulators, they'll just eat money without good results.

Once you screwed around with it for a few months/years pull that boat anchor out and put a Suzuki engine in it, take it from me, I had one and for years I tried just about everything to make it a good off road engine, then I put a 1.3 Seirra engine in and loved it. The sump was at the right end of the engine, it was almost half the weight and with a Vitara carby on it I could just drive up stuff with engine control.
