I looking into doing a j20 conversation on my 89 swb swb vitara what do I have to chabge beside motor and wiring ?

Gearbox as the clutch is hydrallic.

You shluld also update brakes.

Under the skin a j20 vitara is almost completely different. The chassis is totally different- it's wider in he j20 cars and the crossmembers are all totally different. You'll need a SWB 1.6 EFI fuel tank. Radiator is different. Gearbox crossmember is different (and can't be swapped)

IMHO it's not worth ever converting a car to make something Suzuki already built. It would be like converting a v6 commodore to v8- why? Just buy a j20 car and save yourself the angst.

Its surprising how many people do that.

Not that I know the first thing about conversions, but going from the reading I've done and what your saying here, I'd say its A LOT harder to go 1.6 to J20 than v6 to v8 in a commodore, those are the same and parts interchangeability is bolt in affair.

In fact the bomb-a-dore in my backyard was a 6cyl in another life.

It's not that difficult - and a couple of the US vendors do conversion kits - Trail Tough I think is one of them.

More difficult than buying one that Suzuki built already with a j20 in it though.
