I'm putting a G16a carb in a Sierra. I bought a mech fuel pump to suit only to find there is no provision on the head to fit it. I take it I'll have to go electric. What kind of pump will I need? Also do I just wire it via relay to come on when the ignition is on?

Cheers

Ok so I realised this causes another problem. No mech pump means no pressure regulator or return line correct? To clarify this is a g13 carb on G16a engine which appears to be missing the mech pump mounting spot.

So did I but this one definitely doesn't. I've got the 1.3 and the 1.6 side by side and where the mounting spot should be on the 1.6 there is nothing. My main concern was the return line and reg that I thought was part of the mech pump. I've done some reading and apparently with a low pressure elec pump (facet) I don't need a return line. I'll give that a shot tomorrow.

I swapped a swift motor (g13ba) into my sierra about six months ago. There was a blanking plate where the pump should have went. I removed 2 bolts and bolted my mech pump in. Not sure if that will help :)

shep is on the ball , the only 1.6 8 valve head that had no provision for the fuel pump was the spi model from the escudo. you can run a low pressure facet pump with no return

I considered the same thing re: TBI G16A but I didn't think they sold them in Aus. Well there's irony for you. I bought the engine with a weber on it and then sourced a TBI manifold from suzisport to run it on my other Sierra. Now I put it in this Sierra, switch it back to carby for RWC to find it was more than likely TBI all along. Since I ran the throttle body injector via an aftermarket ECU (Megasquirt) I'm still stuck having to change to carby though. I'll give the facet pump a go.
