hi has anone put a corolla 4afe in a sierra and i use the normal gbox or what shuld i use

the dizzy on the motor would be a issue? Maybe cutting a relief into the firewall would help.

What, 10kw more than a G16B or so for oodles more work?

I say go a J20A if you want to muck with things that badly. At least it is closer to 100kw and far better suited to the vehicle. It's still a damn lot of work though; well more than I could be arsed with considering how (relatively) trivial the G16B swap is.

Is it a FWD gbox? if so it goes in the bin.

if your going to do 4afe, consider 7afe (1.8L 4afe) , or even 7age (4age head on a 7afe)

a 1.8L 4age would be pretty damn fun in a suzuki.

Some people use them instead of 4AGE because they are cheaper and easier to source blah blah blah.

That is the only reason they use em sometimes in the corolla world, and should stay in corollas, like the fully-sick 4k-c.

Just going on a limb it'd be the same work or more than the GE because it hasn't been done that AZ knows of.

details and issues with 4afe as i see it.

-You will need to bolt it to a toyota T50 gearbox (Found in a ae71 or ae86, or a TA22 celica, but the ta22 one has a different input or output spline, cant recall exactly)
-the ae71 and ae86 T50 are hydraulic clutch, i think the ta22 one is cable clutch.
-of course engine and gearbox mounts and tailshaft to transfer case will need to be DIY
-the intake manifold points the wrong way (might have to cut and shut the oem one, or maybe you can make it work in the zook, i suspect it will come very close to the brake booster)
-I dont belive there are any off the shelf extractors that will work in RWD. probably need to be custom extractors
-and of course the big issue is the distributer points out the back of the head, i think i once saw a coil on plug conversion with the oem ecu (and tricky electronics), but it was some dude in his shed made, not an off the shelf item.

but if you are willing to do all of that, go the 7afe (1.8L version), it also bolts to the t50 as well, but all of the other issues still apply.

my wife has a ae112 with a 7afe, torquy motor which i think would be awesome in zook, but far too much effort.

7age is a 4age 16V head on a 7afe (google it, its been done a few times), removes lots of the issues above (namely, intake exhaust and rear distributer), but you really need an aftermarket ecu to take advantage of it.

The problem with the T50 gearbox is that they are getting (kinda) rare. The drift and circuit racing guys love them and they keep blowing them up in the process.

I mean, they aren't that expensive, but in a "zook economy" they might as well be made of gold. :P

yer that is one problem, though I bought one for around $200 about 4yrs ago. They are around 250-300 now.

Which isnt that much mroe than a g13a gearbox?

The TA22 ones are dirt cheep though as they dont fit an ae86 or ae71 tailshaft.

A friend of mine runs a 7AGE setup in his sierra, with hilux diffs... It's as quick as my G13B on the road. It's quite low on compression, and he is currently building a supercharger setup for it, but not utilizing the 4AGZE charger, but a new aftermarket charger, with the GZE intake manifold with a haltech on it. Hopefully that'll work well.

He originally had a 4AGE in it (has owned the car for 18 years) but after spinning bearings in three of them, he decided the 1800 bottom end fixes those issues and stops using oil.

He runs a hilux gearbox in it. Lots of work and years of frustration to get it working properly.

Just do what the rest of the forum gods recommend and G16B it, no matter what you do they won't like it...

I also know another fella who has a 4afe in his 1 litre tray back, and loves it compared to the F10.

the gbox is out of a mates old rolla that he had to scrap too much damage etc he has one i can use

how much are the 7afe? cheap?

this was a f10 then did head so went g13 but its now smokey

To many problems with Suzuki engines:

f must be shit heads

g all fucking smoke

g16, crack

H blow chains

m crank/cam sensors fuck out

J coilpacks shit

Strange that superduki's mate had so much drama with the hilux gearbox, lots of the guys with AE86 Sprinters use the strong W series gearboxes because you can buy a bell housing off the shelf that adapts the A block engines to the W series boxes and they come in both cable or hydraulic.

Put $1500 into a 3spd auto 03-56 A40 Aisin Warner box out of an AE71 and it'll do the trick.

It took me $3500 to get mine right. They are worth pocket change in stock format, get it rebuilt straight away and a few simple mods and it will be reliable. Well it is for me running 20V 4age on 34inch swampers.....thats when I actually drive it...it's super reliable sitting in the driveway!

Gotta get the gearing right though.

Yep as Brenno said, I should of made myself clearer, As far as I know he hasn't ever had the box out or apart since the initial rebuild and fitment, nor fitted another clutch. It seems up to the task. The headache was fitting it in the tunnel, alignment issues and getting hydraulic clutch to work properly. He had Hilux diffs shortened to WT track width, then once he went to the hilux box and transfer he had to build another housing to still be WT track but the pumpkin needed to be in the centre again.

It's got to the stage that it's practically a lighter and narrow version of a stock hilux. But way cooler, with a 1 litre grill :P

Yeah clearance would definately be an issue, having changed the clutch in my hilux by myself on the ground I can say that the gearbox and transfer is a lot bigger (and heavier, I nearly blew a gasket man handing that sucker out by myself)
