Hi i went to get in my 08 jimny today. firstly the central locking wouldnt work. i then started the engine and the check engine light stayed on. then i noticed i had no power to the stereo. i turned engine off to check fluids. oil was full but noticed there were little air bubbles. then checked the radiator, over flow bottle empty and also tank. i had done a 2 hour drive the day before and i checked all fluids before i left and all was good. iv had the car for over a year and never even had to top up the radiator fluid. the temp never rose any higher than normal when i got home from the 2 hour drive everything seemed normal. im completely stumped as to what has happened or how i can fix the problem. and help would be greatly appreciated

i have topped up radiator and run the engine with the heater on. thermo fan comes on and off as normal so im guessing the the thermostat is working and temp sitting at normal temp. no bubbles in engine oil but check engine light still on and no central locking or radio and when i turn engine off taco stays at about 750rpm

You should read the engine fault codes and see what came up. Best way is to get an OBD Bluetooth dongle from China and the Torque app on a smartphone. The engine fault codes might give you a clue as to what is going on. Someone in Brisbane might have one and be able to give you a hand with that.

The back up power for the ECU is taken from the same feed as the radio, if its not present then you will get a Check Engine Light warning, I would suggest that you double check the fuse on that circuit. Does the interior light work? that's usually on the same circuit as well.

Start looking for short's in anything that's not working, Int light is a good start. Have you had anything fitted to it lately??

only thing electrical was the stereo but that has been in for nearly a year. i did get a 3" lift snorkel and k&n filter about 2 months ago. must b something to do with the long drive. its got me stumped. ill turn int light and stereo of and see if the fuse still goes. not really sure what else to try. looks like suzi is going to the mechanics

Photo bucket and post the image codes to imbed photos in your post. Mabie check the wiring out behind the light mount Look for a dead short.
