A 235/75 on a 5.5" rim. Bit wide, but I'd fit em, if I didn't have factory alloy rims already.

cheers, might fit all the standard rims up and see what it really looks like, need to paint the rims black though!! I fitted one on the back to see but like I said. it looked pretty silly!

I'm running Cooper STT's on my SV420, very impressed with the grip both on road and off road. A bit noisy on road but compared to other MT's I've had experience with, they're great.

STT's were the first 31" tyre i ran... they were good, but my KM2s and KL71 are both better than them offroad. Hard to judge on-road.

I had the Kumho 625 Road Ventures, dont think they make these anymore, but they were a good off road tyre...
Everyone will have a different view, and have a favorite make of tyre that they like/prefer, so here is my 2cents, if you want a cheap, but good AT, then you cant go past the Maxxis range, i have the Bravo 771 or 700 in a LT construction, around $200 each, they have worn really well, and have driven everything i took them thru, sand, rocks and a lil mud, with only some sidewall scuffs, they are pretty quiet on road too, check them out here -

The standard rim should be a 15x5.5. A 235/75r15 will fit very well but the occasional tyre fitter fill say it's to big to fit. This size has been fitted to stock rims many times, very common. I've run several sets of 235s on 5.5s

sourced a set of 235/75/R15 Maxxis 751, hopefully have them fitted up on Saturday morning, just need the old tyres taken off the rims and the rims painted but that should all be done by Friday.

whole point of this is we do a fair few trips to Lancelin and the last few times we have been the muds have dug in a bit too much and made driving on the beach a whole lot harder than it should be. hopefully will be better with the all terrains.

They'll definitely be better on sand. Keep your MTs handy because 751s are atrocious in mud.

i know that there are mud terrains and All Terrains.... (never heard of highway tires) hahahah

what i am interested in is the ST MAXX - Hankook Dynapro MT ---> that appear to be largely a mud terrain tire, but they also look as though they're an aggressive A/T tire and could last a while, i know the KM2's and STT's and MTZ's are out there. but i'm not after a tire thats 80/20 this time i'm more looking at something that appears to be a 60/40 ? and that look nice.... which i feel well are those ST MAXX / Dynapro unless some one else knows of other Aggressive style A/T tires??

our work utes ( D2 Navara 4x4 ) are fitted with Hankook Dynapro AT'Ms but haven't driven it off road yet. good looking tyre I reckon. don't seem too noisy either on road

definitely keeping the Coopers, that's why I want the 2 sets of rims so I change when needed.

cheers, I work in Redcliffe so would be handy but the place I'm buying the tyres off are fitting them as well. told the guy what rim etc and he just said they'll balloon a bit but didn't say they wouldn't fit them. see how we go.

235s on 5.5 rim do have a sidewall bilge but not immense and it helps them stay on at low pressures. Win win!

Out of interest, what pressure were you running your MTs in the soft sand

as low as 5 - 8 psi. in saying that, at those pressures it wasn't that bad but you could still feel them biting

I run 10 with my KM2s and if really soft and I have the camper behind me I run 8 on all six tyres. Go anywhere at 8.
I think the KM2 is quite reasonable in the sand, especially compared to the Federal Couragias that I had on my old Jimny.

all terrains fitted up Saturday, drives quite nicely with them on compared to the muddies, doesn't look as good but not bad still. hopefully drives better on the sand! cant wait for the long weekend to test it out.

I air my federals down to 10 on sand and haven't had any dramas yet. Having said that the highway noise is a bit tiring so thinming of going to a quiter muddy next time.

i own a 2004 XL7 (facelift)

does anyone know and specifically i guess these rims would they fit the XL7's ? next question are the stud patterns the same? or anyone live near me (Port Macquarie) who's sacrifice 20 minutes swapping a tire / rim to see if they fit for me ?

Same stud pattern, but just remember ninja has the calmini lift. You may get guard rubbage on the inner lip, and most likely need flares.

I think the main bit stopping scrubbage in the rear of ninjas would be the body lift. If you are happy to trim the plastic trim on the inside of the guard I don't see a problem with it fitting. You may also get so scrubbing on the inside of the guard on flex without bumpstops

so I'd get scrubbing because of the offser of the rim or the size of the tire? I'm not looking at going lift and such yet just looking at rime I really like to replace the standard's lol

but eventually itll go lift first then rims / tires just after info if the GV stud pattern is the same as the XL7's

You would get some minimal scrubbage on the outer of the rear arch with 245 -13rim. without the -13 rim you would be fine but then you would get scrub on the chassis at full lock in the front. if you went for 285 no offset you would have scrubbage and stupidly large tyres. 265 no offset still clears though
