Took the Jimny out on Saturday to pick up a dishwasher. Drive was up to Toowoomba, from my place about a 2.5hr drive so drove there and back bout 5 hours total driving.
all drove perfectly fine couldn't really stick to 100 up the hills in 5th, dunno why that was. but was never really much of a bother.
gave it a quick wash with a pressure washer about 30min after i got it home.
tried to start it this morning and it wont start. turns over fine all electrics seem to work with ignition on.
but when turning over it seems like all the usual dash lights that are on while starting all flicker. and the engine turns over seems to start then instantly sounds like it stalls.
has anyone had a similar problem at all?
i haven't had any time to check over the coils and spark plugs but ill be having a look tomorrow arvo.
does anyone know the symptoms of the ECU playing up as well hopefully its not that.
only mods iv done to it engine wise is larger Alternator but it was all good and wasn't outputting too high a volts just over 14V which is acceptable.

Besides hitting the radiator no water was sprayed on the engine. But I'll be pulling them out this arvo to have a look. Just strange it's happened after a long drive.

had a look at it this arvo sparkpulgs and coils are fine.
ecu seems to be fine. everything else works 4wd buttons work, all lights work, dash all works, fuel works.
i did get it started but i literately had to crank it for a second then leave it in on and it sputters a bit then starts but if i hold the ignition on it struggles to do anything.
i got a video of the noise it makes ill see if i can upload it.
pulled the throttle body off. and its pretty black inside the intake manifold might try to get it off as well.
but im going to be pulling the starter off tomorrow arvo and having a look at it as its seems to be pointing its something with it.

you are saying its turning over fine which wouldnt suggest a problem with the starter motor itself , the lights flickering may suggest possibly a bad battery earth , either way ecu/efi problems are normally caused by earthing problems and not power feed problems in my experience , check battery earth and the earth for the ecu on the manifold first , then go from there.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10 ... 4834915883photobucket didn't want to display the video after i uploaded it so i put it on facebook. this is what the engine is doing. iv pulled a few things off now. and going to pull the starter off this arvo. might replace the spark plugs as well just for the hell of it. if i only give it a half a crank a couple times it slowly sputters to life and runs perfectly again. it purely seems to only be if i hold the starter on. it does this.

got one of those OBD readers? be interesting to see what the fault codes are. if its not eleterical (earthing) or fuel mabie its a sensor and its not firing in sequence? something has to e firing otherwise the engine wouldnt kick like that, just dosent sound like it wants to idle, which again points at fuel pressure/blocked injector
